Chronic GI Symptoms? Why You Need a Leaky Gut Test

If you are struggling with GI symptoms, don’t ignore THE main driver for these symptoms, intestinal permeability.

The intestinal barrier is one of the body’s most essential defense barriers. If this barrier breaks down there’s a risk of autoimmunity, loss of oral tolerance (food intolerance and food allergies), and a risk for skin conditions, like eczema and psoriasis.

Intestinal permeability, or leaky gut, can also impact the brain, triggering neural inflammation, a breakdown of the blood-brain-barrier and it can contribute to neurological conditions like Parkinson’s and it can even contribute to mental illness.

Additionally, intestinal permeability can cause chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, liver issues, arthritis, and obesity.

Many practitioners and patients like to assume that they have leaky gut. Almost every set of intake paperwork I review in my clinical practice has ‘leaky gut’ listed as a known condition. Yet, when I inquire about this, testing was never done. The practitioner and patient simply assume it is present. If you actually have an inflamed organ that is driving systemic symptoms, don’t you want this confirmed? Don’t guess! Run a leaky gut test.

So, is intestinal permeability causing, driving or, a result of, a specific condition? It all comes down to this – it is best to test for this, because it is an immediate threat to your health. Treat this directly and then retest to make sure that this has been healed up. The first step to healing the gut is to rule out leaky gut syndrome.
